Oxybenzone is a benzophenone which effectively absorb light throughout the UVB range (290-320) and also absorb some UVA Iight with wavelengths of 320 to 360 and some UVC light from 250 to 290 nm.
Avobenzone is a substituted dibenzoylmethane which absorb UVA 320 to 400. It is generally used in combination with other agents which have a UVB absorption.
Octinoxate is a substituted cinnamate which effectively absorb light throughout the UVB range (290-320).
Oclocrylene is the substituted cinnamate with actions similar to that of Octinoxate.

Side Effect
The formulation found to be safe. Most common side effect is dryness. Rarely some patient show acne, burning, itching or stinging of skin, early appearance of redness or swelling of the skin, late appearance of rash with or without weeping blisters that become crusted, especially in sun exposed areas and may extend to unexposed areas of skin, pain in hairy areas, pus in hair follicles. The aforesaid side effects may disappears as body adjusts to the product.
Adults and children above 6 months of age should apply the lotion liberally and evenly to exposed areas of the skin before sun exposure. If required reapply the product liberally every 1 to 2 hours for adequate protection or as directed by the physician. There is no recommended dosage for children below 6 months of age except under the supervision of the doctor.
